GENEVA, Ohio --- Biola closed out a record-breaking performance at the 2012 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships with another strong showing on Saturday, culminating in yet another Top 10 finish by the women's team, 11 All-Americans and five new school records.
The Biola women's team scored 24 points to finish in 10th place overall, marking its fourth-straight season in the Top 10. The Eagles were just three points back of a two-way tie for eighth place.
The highlight of the day came in the distance medley relay where Jane Kerner, Brooke Forsi, Alexandra Sciarra and Nychele Fischetti finished as the national runners-up with a time of 12:03.26 in the event. It was the third fastest time run by the DMR team in program history.
DMR has even a bit better history here with this event qualifying five straight years for nationals and earning AA honors the past three. The relay has finished in the top five in each of the past four years.
Nychele Fischetti placed fifth in the mile, crossing in a school-record time of 4:59.454to earn All-America honors. Fischetti is now an eight-time indoor All-American after earning the honor on the 4x800 relay team yesterday and adding the DMR All-America honor on Saturday.
Brooke Forsi earned All-American honors with a fifth place in the 600 with a new school record time of 1:35.52. She broke the previous school record in the semifinals on Friday with a time of 1:36.13.
Carissa Bowman also ran well in the 3,000m, finishing ninth with a time of 10:27.02.
When all was said and done, Biola had five athletes earn a total of 11 All-American honors on the women's side: Nychele Fischetti (4 x 800, DMR, mile) Brooke Forsi- (4 x 800, 600, DMR), Jane Kerner (4 x 800, DMR), Alexandra Sciarra (4 x 800, DMR) and Taylor McCahon (Pole Vault).
There were also four new school records established: Taylor McCahon (3.6 m in the pole vault), Nychele Fischetti (4:59.44 in the mile), Brooke Forsi (1:35.52 in the 600) and the 4x800 (9:09.41 by Brooke Forsi, Alexandra Sciarra, Nychele Fischetti, Jane Kerner).
