LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola's men's tennis team took home the first two doubles matches and battled hard through singles play, nearly pulling off an upset before falling 6-3 to No. 7 Point Loma Nazarene University in a GSAC match on Saturday at the Biola Tennis Center.
The Eagles fall to 4-10 and to 1-8 in GSAC play while the Sea Lions narrowly improve to 9-6 and to 5-4 in the conference.
Biola stunned Point Loma as the match began with the Eagles taking two of three doubles matches.
David Mossman and Thomas Coibian combined for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles while
Isaiah Pekary and
Anthony Sena scored an identical victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, Sena picked up a win at No. 6 singles, beating Matthew Booth 6-4 and 6-1. It was the lone win Biola would get in singles play, though the match at No. 2 singles nearly made the outcome a one-match decision.
David Mossman took the first set 6-3 against Diego Tavera, but lost the second 6-4. With PLNU already having won the match, the two played a quick tiebreaker with Tavera earning the 10-6 victory.
Biola returns to action with a tough road trip, traveling up to face No. 1 Fresno Pacific University in a GSAC match at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
