Kalipinde Named NAIA Third-Team All-American

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Junior guard Given Kalipinde wrapped up a solid season by being named an NAIA Third-Team All-American as announced by the national office on Tuesday.

The guard who originally comes from Zambia, Africa, transitioned well to the point guard position during the middle of the year and earned All-GSAC recognition for his efforts. In addition he twice earned conference player of the week honors over the final month of the season.

The junior led the team, the GSAC and ranked 19th in the NAIA in steals with 78 on the season, and finished 25th in the country in defensive rebounds per game with an average of 5.5.

Kalipinde averaged 11.5 points per game this season, reaching double-figures in 19 of 32 games this season including 10 of the final 13 games of the season. He led the team in rebounds with 7.6 per game and was second in blocks (15) and assists (100) and shot 43% from the field.

He seemed to have saved his best for last, recording three double-doubles over his final 10 games, reaching double-digits in scoring in eight of those contests. For the month of February, Kalipinde scored 14.4 points and 8.4 rebounds while adding 26 steals and 25 assists.

Biola reached the NAIA Quarterfinals for the third-straight season and finished with a record of 27-9 and won 14 of its final 16 games to end the season including a 10-game winning-streak.
