KANSAS CITY, Mo. and FRANKFORT, Ky. --- The Biola women's basketball team advanced to the NAIA Quarterfinals for the first time in program history while the men reached the round of eight for the third-straight season with wins on Friday night at their respective tournaments.
The women pulled of their second-straight tournament upset, crushing No. 10 Langston 73-58 to move into the Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. The victory improves the Eagles to 23-10 on the season. Biola faces the winner of the game between No. 2 Union University (Tenn.) and No. 18 Xavier (La.) taking place tonight. The quarterfinal game is on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT).
The men continued their hot streak, picking up their 10th-straight win with a thrilling, come-from-behind 94-90 overtime win over No. 7 Our Lady of the Lake University. Senior
Davey Hopkins hit a pair of free throws with six seconds left to send the game to overtime and finished with a career-high 31 points to lead the Eagles. Biola faces No. 2 Oklahoma Baptist in a rematch of the 2010 quarterfinal which was won by the Bison. The quarterfinal tips off on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. CT (4:00 p.m. PT).
