COSTA MESA, Calif. --- Biola had some good, close matches, but was unable to pull any out, falling to No. 11 Concordia University 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
Biola falls to 1-6 overall and to 0-5 in conference play while Concordia improves to 3-4 and to 3-2 in the GSAC.
Biola had a number of close matches to start in the doubles competition including a tight match at No. 2 doubles.
Isaiah Pekary and
David Mossman played to a close match in a tough 8-6 loss.
In singles, matches at No. 1 and No. 2 went beyond two sets. At No. 1,
Weston Leopold lost the first set 6-3, but battled back and took the second by an identical 6-3 score. The two kept up the close battle, but Leopold didn't get a final break, falling 7-6 in the tiebreaker.
The story was similar for Mossman at No. 2. Mossman took the first set 6-3, but lost in a close second set, 7-5. He also lost the third by an identical score of 7-5.
Biola returns to action next Tuesday, traveiling to Fullerton to face Hope International University in a GSAC match at 2:00 p.m.
