Given Kalipinde Earns All-GSAC Recognition

Given Kalipinde
LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Junior guard Given Kalipinde earned All-Golden State Athletic Conference honors as the conference office announced the post-season awards on Tuesday.

The guard who originally comes from Zambia, Africa, has thrived in his move to the point guard position midway through the year, twice earning conference player of the week honors over the final two months of the season.

The junior is Biola's leader in numerous offensive categories and leads the GSAC in steals with 63. He also ranks second in the conference with 7.9 rebounds per game and leads the team with 84 assists. Kalipinde also ranks second on the team in blocks with 15 and is third in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game.

He seemed to have saved his best for last, recording three double-doubles over his final eight games, reaching double-digits in scoring in seven of those contests. For the month of February, Kalipinde scored 14.4 points and 8.4 rebounds while adding 26 steals and 25 assists.

Biola moved up to No. 19 in the latest NAIA National Poll thanks to going 10-1 over the final 11 games of the season to finish 22-8 overall. The Eagles finished in a second place tie in the GSAC with a 12-6 record and are the GSAC Tournament's No. 3 seed. The tournament begins on Thursday with Biola hosting The Master's College at 7:30 p.m. in a rematch of Saturday's season finale.
