Eleven Biolans Punch Tickets to Indoor Nationals

AZUSA, Calif. --- Eleven Biola athletics earn qualifying times for the 2012 NAIA Indoor National Championships on Saturday at the Azusa Pacific Indoor Classic including Gabe Aeschliman who is believed to be Biola's first sprinter to qualify for the indoor championships.

Aeschliman, who hit the qualifying time right on the mark in the 600m run, finishing with the second-best time by an NAIA athlete and the seventh-fastest time overall in 1:22.25. He is the first Biola sprinter in a decade to earn a national qualifying berth and believed to be the first to qualify for the indoor race.

He was one of four men to qualfiy for the Eagles on the day, also earning a bid on the distance medley relay team with Danny Ledesma, Spencer Lyle and Kevin Horchler. The quartet won the DMR event at the APU Classic with a time of 10:28.58.

Horchler also qualified in the 5,000m with a time of 15:14.0.

On the women's side, the 4x800m relay team of Brooke Forsi, Alexandra Sciarra, Jane Kerner and Nychele Fischetti won the event and earned a qualifying time of 9:30.0. Forsi also qualified in the 600m run by winning the event in 1.36.71.  

Fischetti and Carissa Bowman each qualified in the mile run as Fischetti placed fifth in 5:08.63 and Bowman crossed in seventh in 5:12.21.

Rounding out the qualifiers was Rachel Stump in the 5,000, finishing seventh in 17:51.09.

Biola looks to add to its group of qualifiers in two weeks, returning to Azusa Pacific next Saturday for the APU Last Chance Qualifier.
