Box Score SALT LAKE CITY --- After a tough game to start its long road-trip, No. 12 Biola battled back and hung with No. 5 Westminster on its home court. However, the Eagles could not come away with the upset, falling 55-45 on Friday night at the Westminster Classic.

Biola drops to 1-2 on the season with the tough loss while Westminster improves to 1-1 on the season.

Adijat Adams led the Eagles with 13 points and six rebounds while Angel Dorn added nine points. However, Biola had a tough time stopping the Griffins' Nicole Yazzie, who scored 28 points and added seven rebounds and five steals.

The game got off to a bit of a slow start as both teams struggled from the field. In fact, the game was tied at 8-8 just over 13 minutes into the contest. Biola broke the tie on a three-pointer by Aubree Mittel, but Westminster responded with a 14-2 run over the next three minutes to take a commanding 22-13 lead. Jamie Elias would hit a big three-pointer with six seconds left in the half to cut the lead to six at 24-18 at the break.

In the second half, Westminster scored the first five points of the half capped by a three-point play by Yazzie to go up by 11. Still trailing by 10 at the halfway point, Biola started to rally, using a 10-3 run to cut the deficit to three at 40-37 with 7:08 to play.

The game stayed close over the next few minute with the Eagles pulling to within two points on a pair of occasions, the last of which was a lay up by Adams to make it 45-43 with 3:58 left.

But after a Yazzie bucket on the other end, Biola was unable to score on its next possession and the Griffins hit a pair of free throws to stretch the lead up to six. From there, Westminster missed just one free throw down the stretch to pull out a win by a margin which betrayed the closeness of the game.

Biola actually outshot the Griffins 36.4 percent to 35.7 percent. However, the Eagles committed 18 turnovers which led to 19 points for Westminster. Biola was also whistled for 18 fouls to the Griffins' 11, putting Westminster on the line 23 times in the game.

Biola closes out the Westminster Classic on Saturday with another NAIA Top 15 matchup, taking on No. 15 Lewis-Clark State at 2:00 pm MT (1:00 pm PT).
