LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Seniors Julio Cuevas and Tony Montalvo, junior Kevin Kiser and sophomore Joao Toscan were named to the 2012 All-Golden State Athletic Conference men's soccer team which was announced by the conference office on Thursday. Each earned the honor for the first time in their respective careers.

Cuevas, a senior midfielder from Guadalajara, Mexico, was a key member of the team in both leadership and in on-field play. Cuevas played and started in 18 of the team's 19 matches on the season, finishing among the team leaders in minutes played despite missing a match.

Cuevas had two goals and three assists on the season thanks in large part to a monster game early in the season where he scored a goal and assisted on two others in a win over La Sierra.

Montalvo, a senior midfielder from La Mirada, paced Biola's offense with four goals and seven assists. The senior co-captain started 18 matches, missing just one due to an injury and ranking second on the team with 1,518 minutes played.

Montalvo had points in five of his first six matches this season including the first of two match-winning goals to help beat La Sierra. He also tallied a match-winner against Vanguard in the Eagles' big conference win over the Lions in October.

Kiser, a junior defender from Costa Mesa, continues to be a key part of Biola's solid back line. Kiser was one of two players to start all 19 of the Eagles' matches and led the team in minutes played with 1,607.

Kiser's play along the back line helped Biola's defense allow just 24 goals in 19 games while supporting a freshman goalkeeper. In addition, he recorded four assists including an assist in each of Biola's two playoff matches.

Toscan, a sophomore defender from Francisco Beltrao, Brazil, was a huge key to Biola's defense. The sophomore started 18 matches for Biola and was fourth on the team in minutes played with 1,472. His work along the back line helped Biola allow just 24 goals on the season--the second-lowest in the conference.

Toscan also scored two goals on the season, scoring the lone goal in a 1-1 tie at Cal State San Marcos and adding a goal in Biola's 3-1 win at Menlo College.

Biola finished the season with an 11-7-1 overall record after placing third in the GSAC with a 6-4 conference mark. The Eagles reached the semifinals of the GSAC Tournament before bowing out in a 2-1 loss at San Diego Christian.
