Tixier Wins Three Events at Orange County Invitational

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. --- Sophomore Christine Tixier won three events, setting two meet records and bettering her own school record as Biola won nine events at the Orange County Invitational on Saturday at Soka University. 

Tixier had a fantastic meet overall to pace the Eagles, winning three individual events. She broke her own school record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:06.33, then followed that up with a win in the 100 butterfly in 56.80 and also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.78. The last two were also meet records.

Megan Nerud alos took top honors in the 100 backstroke, leading a 1-2 Biola finish in the event. Nerud finishined in 1:03.35, narrowly edging teammate Sarah Shepard, who took second in 1:03.62.

Freshman Abby Blake won the 1,000 free with a time of 10:46.85 and Angela Kirsner placed second in the 50 free in 25.51 and was third in the 100 free in 55.23. 

On the men's side, Chris Stutzman won one event and placed second in two others. He cruised to a win in the 100 free in 46.97, edging teammate Brandon Hughes (48.54). He also too second in the 50 free in 21.63 and the 200 free in 1:46.87. 

Brandon Hughes did pick up an individual win as well, taking top honors in the 100 back in 55.28. 

Eric Sirjord finishied first in the 500 free in 4:50.60 with teammate Scott West placing second in 5:10.91.

The men's team also won the 400 free relay with Sirjord, Hughes, Austin Sarna and Stutzman touching in 3:16.86.

Biola set four meet records: Tixier in 100fly and 200 breast; Sirjord in 500 free, and Stutzman in 100 free.

Biola closes out the 2012 calendar with a meet on Saturday, December 1 at California Baptist University.
