WHITTIER, Calif. --- Sophomore Jessica Austin scored two of Biola's three second-half goals to lead the come-from-behind effort as the Eagles defeated Whittier College 3-1 on Wednesday night.

The Eagles improve to 2-3-0 with their second-straight win, dropping the Poets to 0-2-0 on the season.

Whittier got the drop on Biola with early pressure and a goal just 10 minutes into the contest. The teams headed to the half with the Eagles down one despite five shots for both sides.

Biola came out firing in the second half, though and took control with two goals in the span of two minutes. In the 67th minute, Austin got in on the act with a goal to tie the score. Junior transfer Stephanie Cubias slotted a great pass through the Whittier defense, finding Austin on the run for a one-on-one chance which she easily converted to tie the match.

Cubias then netted the go-ahead goal just two minutes later to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Michelle Clark served a nice ball into the middle of the box which Cubias settled under and headed into the goal.

Austin closed out the scoring with her second goal of the evening with four minutes to play, receiving a pass from Victoria Dalla Zanna 20 yards out, turning and firing it into the lower corner.

Despite the early goal allowed, senior netminder Erin Frushon was solid the rest of the game, making three saves to earn the victory.

Biola is on the road for its next game, traveling to face Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in a non-conference contest.
