LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior Marco Ruvalcaba scored two goals and added an assist to lead Biola to a 4-0 win over Whittier College in a non-conference match between the cross-town rivals on Monday night.

The Eagles improve to 3-0-0 with the win while the Poets fall to 0-2-0 overall.

Ruvalcaba had a solid night, taking part in two of the first three goals scored by Biola on the evening. In the 15th minutes, he made a quick dash across the front of the goal about 10 yards out, then turned and passed back to Scott Hayes, who finished into the open net. For Hayes, a freshman from Folsom, it was his first collegiate goal.

Whittier fought hard the rest of the half, putting together a pair of impressive chances in the waining minutes. However, senior goalkeeper Aaron Fenlason made a pair of great saves to keep the score at 1-0 at intermission.

In the second half, Biola came out firing and scored three goals over nine-minute span.

Ruvalcaba picked up his first goal of the game and second of the season with a great shot from 12 yards out, blasting a shot which ricocheted off a defender and into the open goal in the 52nd minute.

Just over two minutes later, Collins Egbe lifted a nice pass to a sprinting Daniel Chew, who settled the ball on the run and beat the keeper with a blast to the lower right-hand corner. Chew is now right behind Ruvalcaba with two goals on the season to go along with his two assists.

Ruvalcaba capped the scoring six minutes later, receiving a nice pass from Joao Toscan and lofting over the on-rushing goalkeeper for the goal.

Biola had a great night offensively, out-shooting the Poets 20-11. Fenlason made four saves on the night to earn his second-straight cleansheet and lower his goals against average to 0.33.

The Eagles hit the road for their next two matches, traveling to The Master's College for a tournament on Friday and Saturday. Friday, Biola faces Holy Names University and takes on Westminster College (Utah) on Saturday. Both matches begin at 2:30 p.m.
