SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Biola once again controlled its match on Saturday, but this time was able to find the back of the net, defeating Westminster College (Utah) 3-1 in its final match of the 2011 The Master's College Tournament in Santa Clarita.
The Eagles improve to 4-1-0 on the season while dropping the Griffins to 3-3-0.
Biola outshot Westminster 24-9, but throughout the first half, neither team was able to find the back of the net. However, in the second, the Eagles snapped their scoreless streak and scored in the 60th minute.
Carlos Ballesteros sent a shot toward goal, deflecting it off a defender and into the goal to put Biola up 1-0.
Just under two minutes later, the Griffins found the equalizer as Gabe Gonzalez scored to tie it up at 1-1.
Despite heavy pressure by the Eagles, it wasn't until the 80th minute that Biola broke through.
Cody Shelton sent a quick pass into the box where
Joao Toscan tapped it into the goal to five the Eagles the lead.
With just five seconds left in the contest, Biola capped the scoring with a goal by
Daniel Chew, who was fed a nice pass from
Marco Ruvalcaba.
Biola remains on the road for its next contest, taking on La Sierra University on Thursday in Riverside.
