SAN DIEGO --- Junior Christine Douglas recorded 19 kills without an error to lead Biola to a pair of wins on Friday, sweeping Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) and McKendree University (Ill.) on the first day of the 2011 Seaside Invitational Tournament at Point Loma Nazarene University.

The Eagles defeated Our Lady of the Lake 25-19, 25-18, 25-17, then cruised past McKendree 25-10, 25-14, 25-23.

Douglas had a solid day with 19 kills and no errors in 33 total attacks for a .576 attack percentage. She recorded eight kills in 13 swings against McKendree and had 11 kills in 20 attacks against Our Lady of the Lake.

Chelsea Arnitz also recorded 19 kills and posted a .452 attack percentage on the day. 

Biola opened the day with a solid victory over Our Lady of the Lake, jumping out to a quick 12-6 lead in the first set. The Saints worked back into the match trailing by just two at 19-17, but the Eagles scored six of the final eight points to take the first set 25-19.

In the second set, Biola opened a 5-0 lead and maintained that lead through out, using a late run to pull away near the end. 

The Eagles then dominated the final set, starting out with an 8-1 lead and never looking back. 

Douglas and Arnitz each had 11 kills in the match with Sarah McAtee adding eight kills and Rachel Buckley contributing seven. 

In the second match, Biola again dominated through the first two sets, posting an impressive .442 attack percentage to McKendree's .043. But  things changed in the third.

With the Eagles bringing in a number of players in different positions, McKendree was able to get a bit of momentum. The Bearcats scored the first four points of the set, then held on as Biola made a bit of a run which cut the lead to 11-10. McKendree would stretch the lead to six at 19-13, but the Eagles shifted their line up back to normal and closed out the match with a 12-4 run to take a 25-23 lead. Douglas helped wrap things up by breaking up a 23-23 tie with a kill and a combo block with Buckley to end it.

Buckley had a team-high nine kills in the match to give her 16 on the day with Arnitz and Douglas scoring eight kills each. 

Biola closes out the tournament with a pair of match on Saturday, taking on Embry-Riddle University (Ariz.) at 11:00 a.m. and Malone (Ohio) at 5:00 p.m.
