CALGARY, AB, CANADA --- Recently graduated Biola Track and Field star Natasha Miller placed third in the heptathlon at the Canadian National Track and Field Championships on Thursday at the Foothills Athletic Park in Calgary, AB.

Miller recorded a personal-best total of 5,581 points, finishing behind a pair of Olympians in the competition. Former NAIA champion Ruky Abdulai from Simon Fraser University took top honors with a personal best performance of 6,150 points. She finished just ahead of Jessica Zelinka, who had 6,132 points.

Miller, who is ranked in the top 100 on the world list in the event, recorded personal bests in four of the seven events. 

Miller opened up the competition by placing fourth in the 100m hurdles, crossing the line in personal best time of 13.88 seconds. She followed that up by winning the high jump by clearing 1.76m. 

After a ninth place finish in the shotput with a PR toss of 10.44 meters, Miller finished fourth in the 200m run in 25.29, then placed third in the long jump (5.93m). She wrapped up the competition with a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a PR-throw of 33.95 meters and a fifth-place finish in the 800m with another personal-best time of 2:17.33. 

Miller's total was 50 points better than her previous best, which she established at the APU/Mt. SAC multi-events meet. Her point total and the top-three finish qualifiers he fro the 2011 FISA Universiada in Shenzhen, China in mid-August. 

Miller left Biola as the most decorated athlete in school history. She won 12 individual NAIA titles including successfully defending her outdoor heptathlon and high jump crowns at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in late May. Miller also earned All-American honors in both events and the 100m hurdles to make her a 23-time All-American.

Miller was named the 20011 NAIA Indoor Championship's Most Outstanding Performer and has been named the Most Valuable Performer at the last three Outdoor Championships and the Indoor meets in 2009 and 2010.
