LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola senior Natasha Miller has been named to the Capital One Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-District 8 First-Team with fellow seniors Kelsey Gasner and Sarah Brooks receiving Second-Team Honors as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday morning.

Miller, a senior from Abbotsford, B.C., recently wrapped up a stellar track and field career at Biola with her 11th and 12th individual NAIA title. Off the field she posted a 3.67 GPA while working towards a business degree.

Miller will leave Biola as the most decorated athlete in school history. She has won 12 individual NAIA titles including successfully defending her outdoor heptathlon and high jump crowns at the NAIA Outdoor Championships last week. She also earned All-American honors in both events and the 100m hurdles to make her a 23-time All-American.

Miller was named the 20011 NAIA Indoor Championship's Most Outstanding Performer and has been named the Most Valuable Performer at the last three Outdoor Championships and the Indoor meets in 2009 and 2010. 

Brooks, a senior from Manchester, N.H., posted a 3.81 GPA while completing a degree in Liberal Studies from Biola this year. Brooks, who is a two-time NAIA Cross Country All-America, placed eighth in the 10,000m at the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Championships last week after being seeded 15th overall in the event coming in. She finished ninth in the 5,000m at the Indoor Championships in March and placed 34th at the NAIA Cross Country championships, helping Biola to finish second overall.

Gasner, a senior from Camarillo, was Biola's top runner during the cross country season, finishing in the top five in five regular-season races and in the top 10 at the NAIA Cross Country Championships, helping the Eagles to a second-place overall finish. She  wrapped up her stellar career by placing sixth overall in the 3,000m steeplechase for her 10th All-American honor after winning the event and setting a new record in the GSAC championships. During the Indoor Championships in March, Gasner earned All-America honors in the mile, 1,000m, 4x800m relay and the distance medley relay.

To be nominated for all-district consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for her career. No athlete is eligible until he/she has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing. District 8 college division covers all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA schools in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia.

As a member of the district's first-team, Miller is now eligible to earn CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America honors. The Biola track and field trio gives Biola six athletes named to the All-District Team this year, joining volleyball's Tavea Hampton, women's soccer's Amy Atkinson and women's basketball's Jessilyn Conicelli.

Just five Biola athletes have ever earned CoSIDA Academic All-American honors, the last was Conicelli, who earned second-team honors earlier this year. The 2011 Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-American team is scheduled to be announced on Thursday, June 23.
