LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola senior Brian Loard, juniors Cameron McVey, Vinnie Fayard and Drake Fages have been named to the 2011 All-Golden State Athletic Conference baseball team as voted on by the GSAC coaches and announced by the league office on Monday.

The Eagles placed four on the all-conference team for the first time since the 2006 season after finishing second in the GSAC, trailing the top spot by one game, and going 33-18 overall.

In addition to earning all-conference honors, Fages also was named Biola first Gold Glove winner since 2009.

Loard had a solid senior season for Biola, batting .311 and ranking second on the team in slugging percentage at .629. Of his 41 hits on the year, 21 of them went for extra bases as he recorded 10 doubles, a triple and 10 home runs. He also drew 21 walks and was hit by 10 pitches, giving him the second-highest on-base percentage at .436, and he finished second in RBIs with 46. 

McVey made the most of his first season at Biola, solidifying himself as the Eagles closer and proving his worth as one of the top closers in the conference. The junior, who averages in the low to mid 90s with his fastball, going 2-2 while recording 12 saves--fifth-most in the NAIA--with a 2.17 ERA. He struck out 38 batters 29 innings with opponents hitting just .173 off of him. 

Fayard had another impressive season with the Eagles, batting .345 with 32 runs scored and 18 RBIs. He showed his consistency by reaching base in a team-high 31 consecutive games and also recorded the longest hitting streak of the year by collecting hits in 18-straight games. Fayard also had 21 multi-hit games before being sidelined by an injury late in the season.

Fages had an all-around spectacular season with in his first year with the Eagles, leading the team in nearly every offensive category. Fages batted .358 and led the team with 17 home runs, 69 RBIs, 69 hits, 19 doubles, 50 runs scored and a .720 slugging percentage. He currently rankes fifth in the NAIA in home runs and RBIs and ranks eighth in total bases as well. Fages also was named the Gold Glove winner at third-base in the conference, committing just seven errors in 202 chances for a fielding percentage of .968.

Biola opens the GSAC Tournament on Tuesday, facing Point Loma Nazarene at Noon in Riverside, Calif. The Eagles, ranked No. 12 in the latest NAIA National Poll, are in good shape to make yet another trip to the NAIA Tournament which begins on Thursdady, May 12, with the NAIA Opening Round.
