FRESNO, Calif. --- Biola placed five runners in the top six of the women's 5,000m to earn 28 points and help the Eagles' women's team to a third-place finish at the Golden State Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships--their best finish in program history--on Saturday at Fresno Pacific University.

The Biola women finished with 138.83 points, just 17 points behind second-place Point Loma Nazarene University. Azusa Pacific took top honors with 221 points. 

On the men's side, Biola scored 49 points to finish in sixth place overall. Fresno Pacific won the men's title with 209 points.

In the women's 5k, the Eagles were solid, finishing second through sixth, granering 28 points in the one event. Kelsey Gasner took second place to lead the Eagle contingent, crossing in 17:39.24. Nychele Fischetti finished third in 18:01.99 followed by Katie Thede in 18:02.95, Sarah Brooks in 18:07.50 and Carissa Bowman in 18:08.64.

Natasha Miller won the individual title in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 14.04 to edge out her competitor by 0.04 seconds. She also won the high jump title, clearing 1.78m (5 feet-10 inches) in her final attempt. 

On the men's side, Gabe Aeschliman had a busy day, placing fifth in the 200m (22.99), seventh in the 400m (50.52). 

Ryan Richert picked up a few more points for the Eagles with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000m, crossing in 15:16.49 one day after a fourth-place finish in the 10,000m.

The Eagles now prepare for the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Outdoor Sports Complex in Marion, Indiana, on May 26-28.
