FRESNO, Calif. --- After a long drive for an evening meet, Biola's track and field team did quite well with the women winning seven events and the men winning three at a tri-meet between Biola, Fresno Pacific and Westmont on Friday evening.

The Eagles placed second in the women's competition with Fresno Pacific winning with 141 points. Biola had 113 and Westmont scored 96. On the men's side, FPU scored 136, Westmont 115 and Biola 84.

On the men's side, Carter Williams finished first in two events, taking the 1500m and the 3000m runs. In the 1500m, Williams ran a 4:05.66 to narrowly edge out teammate Brian Aukshunas, who crossed in 4:07.62. In the 3000m, Williams ran an 8:55.68 to take top honors with Biola runners taking places 3-6.

In the javelin, Peter Stacy recorded a personal best and the ninth-best throw in the NAIA this season with a toss of 55.85m (183 feet-3 inches). He narrowly missed the "B" standard in the event. 

Biola won six events on the women's side with three of those by Natasha Miller, who won the high jump, long jump and the 100m hurdles. Her leaps in both jumps were outdoor season bests as she recorded a leap of 1.75m (5-feet, 8-3/4 inches) in the high jump and a mark of 5.81m (19-feet, 3/4-inches) in the long jump. 

Nychelle Fischetti led a Biola sweep of the top four places in the 800m run, finishing in 2:22.23. Clarissa Kenney was second in 2:22.83 followed by Erika Perez in third at 2:25.06 and Emily Fosqick in fourth at 2:26.97.

Biola also swept the top four spots in the 3000m run with Sarah Brooks taking top honors in a time of 10:45.65. Rachel Stump was second in 10:54.97 followed by Kasey Schliach (11:21.68) and Fevan McNichols (12:07.94).

Taylor McCahon and Alexandra Zalesky took the top two spots in the pole vault. McCahon finished just off her season best by clearing 3.50m (11-5.75) with Zalesky right behind at 3.36m (11-0.25). 

The Biola women's 4x800m relay team rounded out the day with a first-place finish with a time of 9:26.12, a "B" standard and the third-fastest time in the NAIA thus far on the season.

Biola returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 9) sending a group of athletes to the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Pomona. Events begin at 10:00 a.m.
