AZUSA, Calif. --- Biola senior Natasha Miller wrapped up a record-breaking performance in the heptathalon, finishing fifth overall at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday.

The senior finished behind three former All-Americans and two Olympians as well as the defending Big 12 Hep Champion from the University of Nebraska. Miller finished with a total of 5,531 points, finishing 231 points better than her previous school record of 5,310. 

After a record-setting opening day, Miller came back with a solid performance on day two. She recorded a personal best in the long jump to open the day, leaping 5.82m (19'-1.5"). She followed that up with a throw of 32.05m (105') in the javelin, missing her personal best in the event by .05 meters. 

In the final event of the day, Miller ran a 2:18.98 in the 800m run to wrap up fifth place overall.

Rucky Abdulai, a Canadian Olympian, won the event with 6,105 points followed by Sharon Day, who represented the US at the 2009 Track and Field Championships. Third place went to the only current collegiate athlete to finish ahead of Miller, Chantae McMillan of the University of Nebraska who had 5,822 points. Annette Flemming, an unattached athlete who was a former hep champ in the 2001 World Championships, placed fourth with 5,760. 

Additionally, Nychele Fischetti and Kelsey Gasner competed in the steeple chase and both ran exceptional races. Gasner finished with a 10:39.47 to set a new school record and record the fastest time in the NAIA this season. Fishetti was not too far behind with a 10:54.38, the third fastest time in the NAIA and a nine-second PR.
