GENEVA, Ohio --- Senior Kelsey Gasner broke two school records and was part of a relay team which broke another as the Biola women's team moved into a tie for first place on day two of the 2011 NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at the GaREAT Sports Complex in Geneva, Ohio.

Biola currently sits tied with Sioux Falls (S.D) for first place on the women's side with 18 points, two points ahead of second-place Cornerstone (Mich.) and four ahead of Azusa Pacific with a number of events still to be contested on the final day of competition.

A total of four school records fell on the day with Gasner having a hand in three. She qualified for the finals in the 1,000m run and the mile and squeezed in time for the anchor leg of the 4x800 relay team.

Two of the team's points came in the 4x800 as the relay squad, composed of Katie Thede, Brooke Forsi, Nychelle Fischetti and Gasner, broke the school record with a fast time of 9:13.35. The time was good enough for fifth place, giving the quartet All-America status. It was the third-straight year the relay had earned All-America honors and the fourth year it has reached the final race at the NAIA Indoor Championships.

Gasner also qualified for the finals of the 1,000m run with record-breaking time of 2:56.53, knocking nearly four seconds off the previous school record.  She also qualified in the mile with a time of 5:01.66, beating the old record by nearly nine seconds. 

Senior Natasha Miller continued to earn the Eagles points, netting six more with a third-place finish in the long jump. Miller edged out the fourth-place finisher by one inch with a leap of 18-feet, 7-inches (5.66m). 

Taylor McCahon recorded a new school-record in the pole vault competition, clearing 11-feet, 9-inches (3.58m). She beat the previous best height of 11-3.75 set during the 2009 Indoor Championships by Erin Hobson.

Rounding out the solid day by the Eagles was Carissa Bowman, who ran a time of 10:24.73. 

The conclusion of the NAIA Indoor Championship Meet is slated for Saturday with the finale of 30 events, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., kicking off the half dozen field events. The 24 track events begin at 12:25 p.m., with the women's mile final.

Biola has a busy final day in store. Gasner will race the Mile and the 1,000 with Sarah Brooks running in the 5,000m finals. Miller will compete in the 60m hurdle finals, which she qualified for today, and the distance medley relay squad will close things out.
