LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Despite droping the singles matches to No. 10 Concordia, Biola was leading in two of the three doubles matches before rain ended the match early with Concordia winning 6-0.
BIola falls to 1-3 on the season and to 0-2 in GSAC play while Concordia improves to 2-0 and 2-0 in conference.
The singles matches were dominated by Concordia with the exception of the match at No. 1 singles. Leopold continued his solid play of late, overcoming a first-set loss and taking the second secon 7-5 to even the match. The two then played a super tiebreaker instead of a third set. Leopold was unable to get much going in the tiebreaker, though, and eventually lost 10-4.
In the doubles matches, Biola seemed to be ready to pull out a pair of points in the match when the rains hit. The No. 1 doubles team of Leopold and
Brent Worthington were up a break and leading 4-3 while at No. 2 doubles,
David Mossman and
Chris Anderson were leading 5-4 when the skies opened.
Biola returns to action on Saturday, hosting Point Loma Nazarene University in a GSAC match at 10:00 a.m.
