LA MIRADA, Calif. — Biola University's Athletic Department will be raising money to help support cancer research and a 15-year-old daughter of two former Biola athletes as part of its Fight Cancer Weekend Feb. 17-19.
Biola's athletic teams currently in season are joining together to help raise funds for the cause during their respective events over the three-day period by wearing special appearal during their games. All of the proceeds from the weekend will go to support the Wnek family, a pair of former Biola athletes whose 15-year-old daughter is suffering from cancer, as well as supporting research to help battle cancer.
The weekend culminates with a special event on Saturday night during halftime of the Biola men's basketball game against Concordia University of Irvine to honor the family being supported by the donations as well as recognizing cancer survivors and those affected by the disease throughout the Biola community. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. with the women's team playing Concordia beginning at 5:30 p.m.
T-Shirts bearing the above design will also be on sale with all proceeds going to the cancer research fund.
