REDLANDS, Calif. --- Freshman Christine Tixier won three of five events including a school-record performance in the 100 butterfly to take home female swimmer of the meet honors at the Bulldog Pentathlon hosted by the University of Redlands on Saturday afternoon.

The meet featured eight teams with each swimmer participating in a 100m swim of each of the four strokes, then a 100 individual medley with all four strokes. 

Tixier beat the existing school record by over a second in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 57.59. She followed that up with a win in the 100 breaststroke and also won the 100 individual medley. Tixier closed out the five-event meet with a sixth-place finish in the 100 freestyle and placed 26th in the 100 backstroke. 

Megan Nerud also had a great individual swim for the women's team, placing sixth in the 100 back with a time of 1:04.06.

On th emen's sixe, Nick Steadman placed fourth in the 100 free in 49.26 and seventh in the 100 breast in 1:05.34. Chris Stuzman finished sixth in the 100 free in 49.81 and seventh in the 100 fly in 55.14.

"I was really impressed with how well everyone did," said Head Coach Eddie Shepard. "I think that Christine's good swim to start out the meet really helped give the team good momentum throughout the rest of the meet. We were swimming outside on a cold and rainy day, but the kids really stepped up and put there hearts into their swims today."

Biola returns to the pool on Saturday, traveling to Fresno Pacific University for a dual meet starting at Noon.
