LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola senior defender Cody Shelton has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals and adding an assist in the Eagles two matches last week.

Shelton, who has played on defense nearly every minute in his four years at Biola, was moved to forward during desperate times this week. He rewarded the decision with three goals--all in the final 10 minutes with the team trailing--and an assist on an overtime winner.

On Wednesday at Westmont, Biola was trailing 3-1 with under seven minutes left. Shelton cut that lead to one with a long blast from the right side in the 84th minute, then tied the match by converting a penalty kick with 47 seconds left. The Ealges would ultimately lose that game in double overtime.

He added another late goal on Saturday at Point Loma, this time tying the match on a header from 10 yarsds out with just four minutes left in the match to force overtime. He then assisted on Zach Bautista's match-winner six minutes into the overtime period as the Eagles won 2-1.

Shelton now has four goals and four assists on the season and his 12 points are tied for the second-most on the team. 

Biola is 8-5-2 on the season and currently sits in sixth place in the GSAC with a 3-4-0 record. The Eagles close out the regular season this week with a pair of games, first playing at The Master's College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., then hosting Vanguard University on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Shelton will be one of five seniors honored before the game as part of Biola's senior night festivities.
