LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola junior outside hitter
Christine Douglas has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending October 9 as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Douglas, a junior from Cypress, had an outstanding week, recording 30 kills (4.3 per set) and posting a .419 attack percentage to lead No. 15 Biola to a pair of GSAC victories last week.
On Tuesday, Douglas had 20 kills in 39 swings for a .410 attack percentage to lead the Eagles to a four-set, upset win over No. 9 Point Loma Nazarene University. She added three blocks including one solo and three digs in the match. Saturday, at San Diego Christian, Douglas added 10 more kills in 23 swings and added a pair of solo blocks in the sweep of the Hawks.
Douglas has been the stalwart of the Biola offense this season. She leads the team and ranks seventh in the conference with her 3.41 kills per set average, recording 273 overall. Douglas is also 12th in the GSAC in attack percentage at .288 and ranks third on the team with 46 blocks.
Biola (17-7, 5-3 GSAC) retuns to action on Tuesday with a key GSAC match against No. 6 Fresno Pacific University beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Chase Gymnasium.
