RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- April Smith won two races and Chris Stutzman picked up a big win on the men's side as Biola returned to the pool in a double-dual meet against California Baptist and Chapman on Saturday in Riverside.

The Eagles had a tough time in their first game of the new year. The men's team lost 226-40 to the Lancers and pulled out a tie with Chapman University, 98-98. The women's team narrowly dropped a 152-140 decision to Chapman and lost 228-68 to Cal Baptist.

Biola picked up individual wins by Smith and Stutzman to pace the team. Smith won the 100 free in 55.01, winning by over a second in the race. She also took home top honors in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.00, also beating the competition by at least two seconds.

Stutzman edged out the talented Lancers sprinters and took home top honors with a great swim of 22.62 in the 50 free. He out-touched the second-place swimmer by 0.03 seconds.

Biola's next meet is its lone home meet of the season as the Eagles welcome Azusa Pacific University to La Mirada. The meet will take place at La Mirada Splash Aquatics Center beginning at 11:00 a.m.
