CLAREMONT, Calif. --- Sam Ullman gathered a loose ball and fired it into the goal with just one second left in the first overtime as Claremont College defeated Biola 1-0 in a non-conference match on Wednesday night.

The Eagles drop to 1-3-0 with the loss—their third 1-0 defeat in the opening four matches of the season. The Stags improve to 1-1-0.

Ullman was able to get a free shot at the goal as Biola netminder Aaron Fenlason collided with another Claremont defender making a late run toward the goal. While it appeared as though the Claremont player ran into Fenlason as he was leaping for the loose ball, the referee signal for play to continue. Ullman then gathered the ball and fired into the empty net.

The goal wrapped up a back-and-forth affair which saw a total of 39 shots, 20 for Biola and 19 for the Stags. The Eagles had a number of great chances including two one-on-one breakaway opportunites. The two chances came in the second half and both ended with shots right at the keeper. The second one came with 40 seconds left in the overtime period as Zach Bautista had the 1v1 chance stoned by the goalkeeper.

Fenlason recorded five saves in the match and Kennedy Chongo and Bautista led the offense with four shots each.

Biola returns to action on Monday (Sept. 13), traveling to face NCAA Division I UC Riverside in a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m. in Riverside.
