LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola sophomore
Natalie Oliver scored the lone goal of the match with a great finish in the box to give the Eagles a 1-0 victory over NCAA Division II Colorado Christian University in a non-conference match on Monday afternoon.
Biola improves to 2-1-0 on the season with the victory while dropping the Cougars to 0-2-0.
Oliver's goal midway through the second half finally put the Eagles on the board after they had peppered the Colorado Christian goal with 13 shots to that point. Senior
Brittany Barr created the great scoring opportunity by sending a cross into the box. Oliver gathered the loose ball, turned and fired it into the back of the net to give the Eagles the lead.
The goal was the first of the year for Oliver and the second of her career at Biola. Both goals were match-winners.
Despite the narrow 1-0 final score, Biola dominated the match throughout, out-shooting the Cougars 19-0 and creating numerous chances. The Eagles would hit the post twice and Colorado Christian netminder Liana Signorile made five spectacular saves to keep Biola from scoring more.
Biola netminder
Erin Frushon had a relaxing Labor Day, earning her second cleansheet of the season without having to face a shot.
Biola returns to action on Friday (Sept. 10), traveling to face William Jessup University in a non-conference match in Rocklin, Calif. at 3:00 p.m. The Eagles return home for a big match on Monday (Sept. 13) against No. 21 College of Idaho. That match with kick-off at 1:00 p.m.
