LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Eighteen home games including a stretch of six-straight at Chase Gymnasium in December highlight the 2010-11 Biola University Men's Basketball schedule released on Tuesday.

The Eagles, who are coming off an impressive 29-6 season and a trip to the NAIA Quarterfinals, have put together another challenging schedule in the hopes of returning to the NAIA tournament for the third-straight year.

Of the 30 games on the Biola schedule, 18 will be played at Chase Gymnasium this year including eight of the 11 non-conference games on the slate.


Biola opens the season early, hosting California Maritime University in a non-conference contest on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles then head north to face Holy Names on Nov. 5 before returning home again to take on the University of Redlands at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

After a trip to face Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, Nov. 20, Biola hosts cross-town foe Whittier College on Tuesday, Nov. 23. 

The Eagles open Golden State Athletic Conference play with a tough set of four games, first hosting Westmont College on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. Biola plays two on the road—at Cal Baptist on Dec. 4 and at arch-rival Azusa Pacific on Dec. 7—before returning to Chase Gymnasium to face Vanguard University on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The Vanguard matchup is the first of six-straight home games for the Eagles who play eight of their next nine games at Chase Gymnasium.

Biola hosts Bethany University on Monday, Dec. 13 and Pacific Union College on Saturday, Dec. 18 to close out play before Christmas. The break between Christmas and New Years will be busy as Biola hosts the University of Victoria, the University of the Fraser Valley and the University of Calgary on the 28th, 29th and 31st, respectively.

The Eagles return to GSAC play on Tuesday, Jan. 4, traveling to Santa Clarita to face The Master's College. Biola then hosts San Diego Christian College on Saturday, Jan. 8, and Fresno Pacific University on Tuesday, Jan. 11 to wrap up the long home stretch.

Biola's big home games down the stretch includes facing arch-rival Azusa Pacific University on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles also host Concordia University—the team Biola placed second in the GSAC to last season—in its Alumni Day game on Saturday, Feb. 19.

The Eagles wrap up the regular season at home, hosting Point Loma Nazarene University in a rare Thursday matchup on Feb. 24.

In addition to the usual excitement surrounding the season, 2010-11 is also expected to be the season Head Coach Dave Holmquist reaches 800 career wins. Coach Holmquist enters the year with an overall coaching record of 788-294 including a mark of 752-251 in 30 seasons at Biola.

Biola returns eight players from last season's squad which reached the NAIA Quarterfinals, its 17th appearance in the NAIA Tournament. In addition, the Eagles welcome five new faces including two NCAA Division I transfers.
