CLAREMONT, Calif. --- If the Biola track and field team was feeling any symptoms of mid-season fatigue, the performances on Saturday certainly did not show it at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The brief spring break hiatus proved to be rejuvenating for the Eagles as ten personal records and another automatic national qualifying mark were achieved.

The performances of the meet belonged to Biola's steeplechase quartet, all of whom set lifetime personal best times in the event. Senior Kyle McNulty led the contingent, finishing in third place with a 9:27 final time. McNulty dropped six seconds off of his previous personal record and in doing so earned an automatic qualifying time for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.

Freshman Spencer Lyle was close behind, breaking his previous personal record by two seconds and completing the event with a 10:09 final time.

Sophomore Nychele Fischetti ran a sterling 11:06, finishing as the runner-up in the women's race. Fischetti has now broken her own school record in the event twice this season and has the fastest steeplechase seed time in the GSAC.

Sophomore Katie Sikkelee crushed her previous personal best time by 17 seconds, running a 12:43 for the race. All four steeplechasers are currently ranked in the top eight in the GSAC and are poised to score points for the Eagle crew in the conference championships.

The rest of the squad appeared to be sparked by the performances of the steeplechaser's as six more personal records were established throughout the duration of the meet. Freshman Rachel Stump made her presence known in the 1500 meter run, posting a twelve second personal record in the event for a 4:51 final time.

Sophomore Brooke Forsi made her debut performance in the 800 meter run worthwhile by clocking a solid 2:23. Junior Mark Weller also set a lifetime record in the event with a 1:58, a one and a half second total improvement.

In the 400 meter run, junior Brian Tromburg and freshman CJ McMunn continued to rake in the personal records for the Eagles, running 52.9 and 53.3 seconds respectively for the distance. Junior thrower Juan Flores rounded out the last of the personal records for Biola, marking 13.05 meters in the shot put.

The Eagle squad appears to be peaking at the right time as the prepare for the Golden State Athletic Conference championships contested April 23-24 at Westmont College. Westmont has recently inaugurated their state of the art track and field facility and will be hosting the GSAC Championships for the first time in a number of years.
