LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola junior Garrett Leon has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week of March 15-21 as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Leon, from Fountain Valley, went 9-for-16 (.563) in four GSAC games against San Diego Christian last week, recording two home runs, three doubles, 10 RBIs and scoring nine runs. His performance helped the Eagles to a 4-0 record for the week.

In the first doubleheader, Leon went 5-for-9 with a home run, five runs scored and a pair of RBIs. On Saturday, he went 4-for-7 including a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run and six RBIs in the first game of the twinbill.

For the season, Leon leads the team in numerous offensive categories including a.416 batting average, 31 runs scored, 37 hits and 11 doubles. The junior is riding a six-game hitting streak which has featured multiple hits in five of those six contest. Over that stretch, he is 14-for-25 (.560) with four doubles, two home runs, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Biola has won nine of its last 11 games to move within 2-1/2 games of first place in the GSAC standings. The Eagles are 16-6 overall and 10-5 in conference play. Biola returns to the field on Wednesday, hosting the first game of a four-game series against GSAC-leading Vanguard University. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Eagles Diamond.
