FRESNO, Calif. --- Playing in its third match in four days including its second-straight against an NAIA Top three team, Biola put up a valiant effort, but ultimately lost 9-0 at No. 2 Fresno Pacific in a GSAC match on Monday morning.
The Eagles fall to 1-2 on the season and to 0-2 in conference play with the Sunbirds improve to 2-0 and to 1-0 in conference.
Biola played tough against its highly-ranked opponent, forcing Fresno Pacific to hit winners to take points. However, the final box score was a bit lopsided toward the home side.
In doubles, the Eagles fell 8-3 at No. 1 (
Marvelous Beckman and
Joelle Tanaka) and lost 8-2 at No. 2 (
Kristen Williams and
Christine Garner). In singles,
Brea Roth took a pair of games in a 6-1, 6-1 loss at No. 1 as did Garner at No. 2.
Biola returns to the courts on Friday (Feb. 19), traveling to face Vanguard University in a GSAC match beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Costa Mesa.
