Erin Frushon
LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola junior goalkeeper Erin Frushon has been named the NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 31, as announced by the national body on Tuesday.

Frushon, a native of Bonsall, Calif., faced 35 shots, made 12 saves and allowed just one goal as Biola clinched its first Golden State Athletic Conference playoff berth in five seasons.

The junior keeper made four saves and recorded her fourth shutout of the year as the Eagles took a 1-0 double-overtime victory at Vanguard (Calif.) on Oct. 27. Against then-No. 4 The Master's (Calif.), Frushon battled 21 shots and made eight saves in goal to lead Biola to a 2-1 upset on Oct. 30.

Frushon led the GSAC with 75 saves and was third in goals against average with a 0.81 mark.

Frushon becomes the first Biola student-athlete to earn NAIA Player of the Week honors this year.
