CARSON, Calif. --- In recent weeks the Biola offense has picked it up as a whole but Thursday the Eagles had a blank stare as three Cal State Dominguez Hills pitchers combined to shutout Biola 3-0 at Toro Diamond in Carson.
The loss drops Biola to 22-18 while Dominguez Hills improves to 22-17.
The Eagles managed just five hits on the day, led by senior David West's 2-for-3 performance.
The Toros put up one run in the first after Carlos Leyva led off with a single, advanced to second on an error, and was cashed in by Andrew Baslow.
The Eagles best opportunity came in the third after Billy Vopinek started the inning by reaching on an error. West singled and with two outs Nick Rotkowitz reached to load the bases but Biola was unable to score.
Dominguez Hills added two insurance runs in the seventh when Leyva doubled with one out and Sean Beckley singled before a two run double by Jon Alia.
David Fair picked up his first win for the Toros and is now 1-2 on the season while Biola starter Calen Pennington falls to 1-3.
Biola returns home on Saturday (Apr. 11) to host Cal State San Bernadino at 1:00 p.m.
