BOX SCORE

AZUSA, Calif. --- Senior Marlon King had 17 points and added nine assists as Biola used a big second-half to knock off Embry-Riddle (Fla.) 59-55 in the finale of the Cougar Classic Saturday at the Felix Event Center.

Biola, ranked No. 17 in the NAIA Division I Preseason Poll, improves to 3-0 on the season while dropping Embry-Riddle, ranked No. 14 in the Division II Poll, falls to 2-2.

King had a solid all-around effort, recording 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting, adding nine assists, three steals and five rebounds in 34 minutes. Junior Andrew Schroeder contributed 10 points for the second-straight game, with senior Danny Campbell scoring seven points and adding nine rebounds and a pair of assists.

Biola got off to a hot start scoring the first eight points of the game over a three-minute span and the Eagles led through most of the half. Biola held a 23-22 advantage on a King layup with 4:56 to go before the half, but that would be the final points scored by the Eagles as they went 0-for-9 the rest of the way.

Embry-Riddle responded with a trio of three-pointers by Balke Touchard over a three-minute span and held a 31-23 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Biola trailed by as many as 10 points, falling behind 37-27 on a layup by Brett Rawlings with 16:20 to go. BU turned the game around with ten minutes remaining, though, closing the gap to two at 43-41 on a three by Campbell with 10:03 to play.

Biola stayed close, but could not seem to get the lead until Campbell hit a go-ahead three-pointer off of an assist from King, putting Biola up 54-53 with just 4:03 to play.

Stellar defense held Embry-Riddle to just one field goal over the final four minutes and Biola iced the game at the stripe down the stretch.

Eric Lorenzi led all scorers with 18 points for Embry-Riddle, hitting 6-of-10 from the field with six rebounds. Touchard added 13 points and Ray Graham contributed 11 points and six boards off the bench.

After shooting 44 percent from the field in the first half, Embry-Riddle connected on just 29.6 percent in the second half including missing all nine attempts from beyond the three-point line. Biola's shooting was just the opposite as the Eagles hit just 32.4 percent in the first half, but came back out and hit 52 percent from the field in the second half.

Biola continued to dominate in the paint for the second-straight night, outscoring Embry-Riddle 34-20.

Biola heads up to Northern California next week to take on California Maritime on Saturday (Nov 21) before opening GSAC play at home on Tuesday, Dec. 1, against No. 3 Fresno Pacific University.
