BOX SCORE
LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Sophomore Josh Miller and junior Danny Campbell each scored 16 points as Biola came back from its Christmas break with a 78-53 win over Bethany University in a non-conference game on Monday night at Chase Gymnasium.
The Eagles improve to 8-3 on the season with the victory and drop the Bruins to 2-6.
Miller and Campbell played outstanding basketball, combining to hit 13-of-16 shots from the field as Biola shot an impressive 57 percent on the night. Miller added seven rebounds and converted eight of his 10 shot attempts while Campbell earned his points thanks to a 4-of-5 shooting night from beyond the arc.
Biola really had little trouble dispatching of the Bruins in the game, breaking things open early with a 19-2 run to go up 23-7 in the first half. Bethany closed the gap to eight with a short run only to see the Eagles stretch the lead back up to 16 with 3:53 to go before the half and took a 35-23 lead to the locker room.
In the second half, Biola removed all doubt by outscoring the Bruins 29-8 through the first 10 minutes. The Eagles missed just 10 shots in the second-half, shooting 62 percent from the field.
Junior Rocky Hampton added 10 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Hampton is averaging just over two blocks a game and has recorded 27 already on the season.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday (Dec. 31), hosting the University of Montana-Northern to close out 2008. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. at Chase Gymnasium.
