FULLERTON, Calif. --- Biola's Rocky Hampton scored 18 points, adding 14 rebounds and five blocks, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles fell 71-60 to No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan on Thursday night at Darling Pavilion in Fullerton.

Biola drops to 7-3 on the season while the Wildcats, who entered the game ranked No. 10 in the latest NAIA Division II poll, improve to 11-3.

Hampton had a strong night, hitting 7-of-11 from the field to lead the Eagles. Junior guard Marlon King added 14 points for Biola while sophomore guard Nate Rakestraw and forward Josh Miller added 10 each.

Biola fell behind early in the contest and could never really recover. Indiana Wesleyan jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead as the Eagles struggled to find the basket through the first four minutes of the contest. Over the next 10 minutes, the Wildcats stretched the lead to 14 at 30-16 and still held a 35-24 edge with 1:56 to play. But Biola closed the gap by scoring five of the final six points of the half and headed to the locker room trailing 36-29.

In the second half, the Eagles continued the run and closed the gap to three at 36-33. However, over the next five minutes, the Wildcats roared back with a 15-4 run to take a 51-37 advantage at the 13:27 mark. After trailing by as many as 19, Biola would close the gap to eight in the final two minutes, but could get no closer. 

Indiana Wesleyan was led by the 18 points and six rebounds of Antonio Murrell, with Will Hubertz adding 15 points on five three-pointers off the bench. Landon Adler added 12 points and three steals for the Wildcats.

Biola did not shoot poorly, hitting 44 percent from the field. The Eagles also held a 34-28 rebounding advantage which led to an 11-0 edge in second-chance points. But Indiana Wesleyan hit nine three-pointers on the night and committed just 11 turnovers, shooting 49 percent from the field to pull out the win.

The Eagles take a week-long break for Christmas and return to action on Monday, Dec. 29, hosting Bethany University at Chase Gymnasium beginning at 7:30 p.m.
