Biola is a Christian university, and not in a nominal way. It is a learning community where all faculty, staff and students are professing Christians, every undergraduate takes Bible and theology coursework, and chapel is part of the week. Biola Athletics states its priorities as spiritual development, academic success and competitive excellence, in that order. If that is what you are looking for, few Division II programs offer it.

You will not be choosing between competing seriously and getting a real degree. In 2025-26 Biola earned more D2 ADA academic awards than any other school in the PacWest, carried a 3.452 department grade point average across all seventeen programs, and won conference championships in cross country and women's track and field. The university is ranked No. 31 nationally for Best Undergraduate Teaching by U.S. News.

Biola awards more than $70 million in aid each year, and for recruited student-athletes athletic aid is usually combined with academic scholarships and need-based aid.
