The NCAA sets strict limits on the scholarship equivalencies allowed for each sport. At the Division II level, athletic scholarships can only be offered on a one academic year basis. At the end of the academic year a scholarship can be renewed or non-renewed at the coach's discretion.
All non-renewals can be appealed through the Financial Aid Office. Appeals must be submitted in writing within two weeks of the non-renewal notice, and those instructions are included in the non-renewal notice itself.
Reporting requiredAll outside scholarships, for example booster club awards and local scholarships, must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office for review. Outside scholarships can affect your individual and team scholarship limits and your eligibility. You must report the aid even if the check comes to you directly from the awarding agency.
At the beginning of every academic year you will be asked to report all outside scholarships on your compliance forms in Teamworks Compliance & Recruiting. If you receive something during the year that is not on your form, notify the compliance office and Financial Aid immediately.
