HIGH SCHOOL
• Prepped four varsity seasons at South Eugene HS in Eugene, Ore., graduating in 2018
• Won the conference title in long jump and 4x100m relay in 2015
• Ninth all-time in school history in points scored
• Earned all-state honors all four years
• Captained the team in 2018
• Led his team to a second-place finish at the Oregon state meet in 2018
• Led the team to a third-place finish in the Jesuit relays and eighth place in the Oregon relays
• Member of the National Society of High School Scholars
• Also played football and basketball for the Axemen

PERSONAL
• Born April 26, 2000 to Shaynor and Heather Newsome
• Has one younger sibling (Violet)
• Plans to major in biological science, with hopes of a career in rescue and rehab for marine animals on the coast and work in ocean conservation
• His father, Shaynor, was a sponsored rock climber. His grandfather wrestled at Oklahoma and played baseball at Tulsa.
• Enjoys surfing, reading and climbing
• Favorite Bible Verse: Hebrews 6:19
• Why I Chose Biola: "I was looking at a lot of schools, but I didn't feel a connection to the university like I did at Biola. The community, the people, the atmosphere, the culture, and I felt like God was calling me to this place.
