PacWest Honors Pour in for Biola

After capturing the program's first conference title, Biola Women's Track & Field earned four major postseason awards, including Athlete of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year.

LA MIRADA---Following one of the most successful seasons in program history, Biola Women's Track & Field received four of the five major PacWest Conference postseason awards, headlined by Eboselulu Omofoma being named Track and Field Athlete of the Year and Sean Henning earning Coach of the Year honors.

Omofoma Collects Two Honors
Omofoma was named the PacWest Track and Field Athlete of the Year for a remarkable season defined by both national success and program-defining performances. The sophomore earned First Team All-American honors in three events at the NCAA National Championships and finished the season as Biola's record holder in the 60m, 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and triple jump.

"I was hopeful that Ebi would get one award but very grateful that the conference felt that she was good enough across the board to win both awards," said head coach Henning. "She had a breakout day at conference that continued her already stellar season. Scoring 34 points for our women's team is tremendous and she did it with a smile on her face and she was such a great teammate throughout the two days."

On the track, Omofoma earned First Team All-America recognition in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles after placing eighth nationally in each event at the NCAA Championships. She was named USTFCCCA All-Region in both hurdles events and captured PacWest titles in the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles.

She added another First Team All-American finish in the triple jump after placing third nationally at the NCAA Championships. The sophomore finished the season ranked seventh in the nation in the event and was named USTFCCCA All-Region. She earned All-PacWest honors in both the triple jump and long jump while leading the conference in the triple jump and ranking among the top seven in the high jump and long jump.

Omofoma made significant strides in the triple jump throughout the season, improving her personal record from 11.47 meters to 12.77 meters. Her other personal best marks include 25.04 in the 200, 55.82 in the 400, 8.87 in the 60H, 58.32 in the 400H, 1.62m in the HJ and 5.69m in the LJ.

Kurtz Earns Freshman of the Year Recognition
Freshman Elizabeth Kurtz made an immediate impact in her first collegiate season, earning PacWest Track Freshman of the Year honors after emerging as one of the conference's top middle-distance and distance runners.

"Elizabeth has been a real joy to coach as she learns what she is good at in this sport," stated Henning. "It turns out she is good at a lot, I could have put Elizabeth in four different events and she probably would have scored in a number of ways but it was a lot of fun to watch her dominate in the 800 down the home stretch. She also competed very well against some veteran steeplechasers to get a podium."

Kurtz captured the PacWest title in the 800m and earned All-PacWest honors in both the 800m and steeplechase, placing third in the latter event.

The freshman finished the regular season ranked first in the conference in the 800 meters, third in the 1,500 meters, fourth in the steeplechase, sixth in the 3,000 meters and 10th in the 5,000 meters.

Her season-best times included 2:12.53 in the 800 meters, 4:33.12 in the 1,500 meters, 11:00.09 in the steeplechase and 17:37.15 in the 5,000 meters. Kurtz recorded two podium finishes during the season and helped provide the depth that fueled Biola's championship run.

Henning Named Coach of the Year
Henning was selected as the PacWest Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year after leading Biola to its first conference championship in program history. The Eagles scored 195 points to win the team title and produced six individual event conference champions and 12 All-PacWest performances.

"Coach Henning has been a tremendously successful coach on the distance side, and to watch him and his amazing stuff build the track & field program together to earn this championship has been incredible," stated Associate Vice President for Student Development Dr. Bethany Miller. "The student-athletes in this program have a deep love for Jesus and for each other. We see it in their joy as they compete and work together as a team. What a great accomplishment among such great competition in the PacWest Conference! It is an honor to see him win his third coach of the year recognition in one year- quite remarkable, and an indicator of what a good coach he is."

Biola's success extended beyond the conference meet, with four NCAA National Championship qualifiers, eight USTFCCCA All-Region honors and 13 school records broken during the season.

This was Henning's third PacWest Coach of the Year award this year. He was also named the 2025 PacWest Coach of the Year for men's and women's cross country.
