Eagles Spread Across Two Meets in Final Tune-Up

Biola split up between the Titan Tune-Up and Franson Last Chance Meet.

FULLERTON, Calif.---The Biola track & field teams competed at the Titan Tune-Up and Franson Last Chance Meet on Friday.

Titan Tune-Up
Hope Willis and Leah Gilmore competed at the Titan Tune-Up. Hope led the Eagles with fourth place finishes in the hammer throw (49.36m) and discus (48.42m). Gilmore placed ninth in the hammer throw (40.31m) and 13th in the discus (37.72m).

Franson Last Chance Meet
The Eagles saw success across the track and field events at the Franson Last Chance Meet, including multiple athletes advancing through sprint prelims.


Joshua Widdows qualified for the men's 110m hurdles final after placing eighth in the prelims with a time of 14.34.


Biola also advanced two sprinters to the men's 100-meter final, as Matthew Kaloustian finished sixth in prelims (10.62) and Donovan Tommy followed in seventh (10.66). Tyler Poltl narrowly missed qualification with a 10th-place finish (10.80).

Caden Hunter qualified for the final of the women's 100-meter dash, placing fourth overall with a time of 11.96.

In the women's high jump, Carlota Romay Rega placed sixth out of 18 competitors with a clearance of 1.67m, while Reese Eckard tied for 10th at 1.62m. Robby Porter led the men in the high jump with a sixth-place finish (1.95m).

Autumn Murray recorded a 17th-place finish in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.32m.

Biola's distance runners competed in the 800 and 5,000 meters, highlighted by Melt Von Molendorff's 38th-place finish in the men's 5K with a time of 14:45.88. Edgar Ortega (15:19.37), James Rieckewald-Schmidt (15:40.83) and Zachary Wallace (15:46.38) also competed in the event. Elizabeth Kurtz represented the Eagles in the women's 800, crossing in 2:18.55.

The Eagles continue competition tomorrow Saturday, May 9th at APU's Last Chance Meet.
