Omofoma Sets Two New Records, Eagles Close Regular Season

Eboselulu Omofoma set school records in the triple jump and 400m hurdles at APU’s Last Chance Meet.

AZUSA, Calif.---The Biola track & field teams wrapped up the regular season Saturday at the Franson Last Chance Meet, posting strong performances across multiple events.

Eboselulu Omofoma highlighted the meet with a record-breaking day in the women's triple jump and 400m hurdles. Omofoma placed fourth in the triple jump with a school-record mark of 12.60m, surpassing her previous Biola record of 12.20m. She later added another school record in the women's 400m hurdles, finishing second with a time of 58.71 to break her previous mark of 58.80. 

Biola's pole vaulters opened the day with strong finishes in the men's B group event. Caleb Pook placed second with a clearance of 4.55m, while Aidan Erickson tied for third after clearing 4.40m.

Autumn Murray competed in the women's triple jump, placing 15th with a leap of 11.13m.

The Eagles saw several strong sprint performances throughout the meet. Donovan Tommy led Biola in the men's 100-meter final with a third-place finish and a time of 10.60. Matthew Kaloustian also qualified for the final, placing sixth (10.79). Caden Hunter finished sixth in the women's 100-meter final with a time of 12.12.

Kaloustian paced Biola in the men's 200 meters, finishing 15th in a field of 61 runners with a time of 21.67. Tyler Poltl (22.07), Steven Cuevas (22.21) and Richie Nawa'akoa (22.24) also competed in the event. Nawa'akoa added a 26th-place finish in the men's 400 meters (49.61).

In the hurdles, Joshua Widdows placed seventh in the men's 110m hurdles final with a time of 14.72. Hannah Hanson also competed in the women's 400m hurdles, placing ninth in 1:03.29, while Brayden Watson (53.48) and Joaquin Ramirez (54.77) competed in the men's race.

Biola's distance runners closed the meet with several strong efforts in the 1500 meters and steeplechase events. Bethany Mapes led the women in the 1500, placing 23rd in 4:34.09, followed closely by Elizabeth Kurtz in 25th (4:35.46). Hailey Wurzbach (4:44.92) and Ellie Dimitrashchuk (4:56.21) also competed for the Eagles.

On the men's side, Grant Miller led Biola in the 1500 with a time of 3:49.89 to place 38th in a field of 194 runners. Jake Sorani (3:58.72) and Brayden Lunetta (4:04.52) also represented the Eagles.

Jaina Kang finished 15th in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:07.55, while Carter Hawley placed 35th in the men's race (9:59.63).
