Eagles Erupt Early, Defeat Jessup 14–8

Biola scores seven in the first and tallies 17 hits to extend win streak to 15 games

SACRAMENTO, Calif.---The Biola softball team secured a 14–8 victory over Jessup University on Saturday afternoon at Becky Rust Field, using a big first inning to set the tone while totaling 17 hits.

Biola wasted no time taking control, erupting for seven runs in the opening inning. Lizzie Byer and Alexa Sheard recorded back-to-back hits, and Lillianna Garcia scored a run with a bases-loaded walk. Ariana Banos added a sacrifice fly, while Mikala Huskey and Kendall Nakano each delivered RBI hits. Byer capped the inning with a two-RBI double to give the Eagles a 7–0 lead.

Jessup answered in the second inning with six runs of its own, highlighted by a three-RBI double and a two-run home run, cutting Biola's lead to 7–6.

The Eagles responded immediately in the third. Kennadie Tsue drove in a run with a double before Sheard added an RBI single to extend the lead to 9–6.

Biola continued to add on throughout the game. Nakano launched a solo home run in the fourth inning, and the Eagles pushed across another run in the sixth.

Jessup managed to chip away with runs in the fourth and sixth innings, but Biola delivered the final blow in the seventh. With the bases loaded, Garcia cleared them with a three-RBI double to stretch the lead to 14–8 and secure the win.

In the circle, Biola used three pitchers to navigate the high-scoring contest. Kayla Bousquette started the game, while Madeline Granados provided relief before DJ Symons closed out the final 3.1 innings to earn the win.

The Eagles totaled 17 hits in the game. Nakano led the way with four hits and two RBIs, while Byer recorded three hits and two RBIs. Garcia drove in four runs, and Tsue added two hits and an RBI to round out the offense.

With the win, Biola improved to 29–15 on the season and 22–4 in PacWest play. The Eagles stretched their winning streak to 15 games.
