LA MIRADA --- The PacWest Conference announced DJ Symons as the PacWest Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The honor is voted on by athletic directors from around the conference. Symons, winner of the  PacWest Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was the standout candidate for her performance in both the classroom and on the field. 

Named PacWest Pitcher of the Year, NFCA All-West Region Second Team and D2CCA All-West Region Second Team, Symons accumulated various academic and athletic awards in her final season. 

Symons threw 203.2 innings across 48 appearances. She led the conference in strikeouts, innings pitched, complete games, saves and wins. She finished the year with a 20-15 record and a 2.47 ERA. Her 20 wins, 48 appearances and 203.2 innings pitched were record marks for Biola Softball in the NCAA Division II-era.

Academically, Symons kept a 3.94 GPA in the classroom, graduating with a degree in public health with plans to become a nurse.
