SACRAMENTO, Calif.---The Biola softball team showcased their grit, storming back after the delay with a five-run seventh inning to defeat Jessup 5–2 and complete the four-game series sweep at Becky Rust Field.
When play resumed at 11 a.m. on Sunday after being halted the previous day due to inclement weather, the Eagles faced a 2–0 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning. Biola remained patient and turned the momentum in its favor late.
The Eagles worked out of the sixth inning unscathed and dug deep as they headed into the seventh. Kendall Nakano walked to start the rally before Kennadie Tsue and Lizzie Byer followed with key hits to load the bases. Jackie Ibarra brought in the first run on a fielder's choice, and moments later the Eagles tied the game on a wild pitch.
With the game tied at 2-2, Lillianna Garcia delivered the decisive swing, launching a three-run home run to left field to give Biola a 5–2 lead and complete the comeback. The home run marked Garcia's eighth of the season.
In the circle, Kayla Bousquette was dominant in relief. She tossed four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out seven to earn the win after taking over for DJ Symons, who started the game.
Biola finished with six hits in the game, highlighted by Garcia's three RBIs and Ibarra's RBI contribution.
With the win, the Eagles improved to 30–15 overall and 23–4 in PacWest play, extending their winning streak to 16 games and completing the series sweep. Biola continues their Northern California road trip and plays Dominican next tomorrow Monday, April 13th.
