Eagles Pour on the Goals Against Redlands

LoBue sets career highs as Biola defeats Redlands 18-4

FULLERTON, Calif. --- The Biola women's water polo team closed out the Convergence Tournament against the University of Redlands Bulldogs. The Eagles won by a final score of 18-4.

The Eagles had their most prolific offensive half of the tournament, scoring nine times across the first two periods. A balanced attack led by Gwendolyn Pidd with three goals was backed by two goals from Ava LoBue, Annabella Rapp, and Destiny Moreno. Biola led 9-2 at the halftime break. 

Karly Lepel found the back of the net for Biola in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Marissa Brock, Yalissa Tellez, and Sofia Lazzarini Orlandi all scored in the third frame. Moreno and Myah Ibarra tacked on goals in the final minute, boosting Biola's lead to 12.

Emily Guedel and Kajsa Brown joined the scoring column in the fourth. LoBue added one more in the closing seconds, cementing the win for BU. LoBue secured new career-highs in points and assists.

As a team, Biola went 18-for-28, shooting .643 percent from the field. Clara McKee and Fernanda Luna split time in goal. McKee logged nine saves and two steals.  

The Eagles will return to WWPA conference play and visit CSU Monterey Bay on March 13 at 1 p.m.
