Back-and-Forth Battle

LoBue and Pidd combine for eight goals as Eagles face Mount St. Mary’s

FULLERTON, Calif. --- The Biola women's water polo team faced Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers. 

Ava LoBue and Gwendolyn Pidd each scored four times for the Eagles. Annabella Rapp found the back of the net three times while Alyah Ibarra and Karly Lepel each scored once. Mia Mulhall and Myah Ibarra combined for five assists. 

The Mountaineers scored first before back-to-back goals from Pidd and Ibarra. LoBue found her first goal of the game in the final three minutes of the first period. The two teams were tied going into the second quarter.

MSM opened the second period on a 4-0 run before Pidd scored three times. The Mount added two more before halftime making it 8-5 at the buzzer.

Lepel and LoBue scored after an opening goal by the Mountaineers. S. Rapp and A. Rapp scored on back-to-back possessions to bring Biola back to within one. Both sides scored once more to close out the third frame, 13-11. 

In the final frame, LoBue scored the two goals in the first three minutes. Mount St. Mary's responded with two goals of their own before A. Rapp closed out the game with a goal in the final minute.

The Eagles will play two more games tomorrow against La Salle and Redlands, beginning at 12:15 p.m.
