LA MIRADA---The Biola softball team earned a 7–3 win over Chaminade on Wednesday afternoon at Freedom Field.
Kayla Bousquette went the distance for the Eagles, pitching all seven innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits. She worked through multiple scoring threats and improved her record to 12–3 on the season.
Chaminade opened the scoring in the first inning, but Biola answered in the second as Alexa Sheard singled to get on base and later came home on a passed ball to tie the game at 1–1.
Biola took control in the fourth inning with a two-run rally. Leilani Salgado sparked the offense with a one-out single up the middle. Alexa Sheard followed with a single, and Janessa Hernandez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jackie Ibarra then delivered, singling to shortstop and advancing to second on a throwing error. The play allowed two runs to score as Biola took a 3–1 lead.
Chaminade answered in the fifth inning with a pair of runs to tie the game at 3–3, but Biola quickly regained the lead in the bottom half. Kennadie Tsue came through with an RBI double to put the Eagles back on top, 4–3.
The Eagles added insurance runs in the sixth inning. Lillianna Garcia delivered an RBI double, Mikala Huskey followed with an RBI single, and Ariana Banos drove in another run with a groundout to extend the lead to 7–3.
Biola finished with 11 hits in the game. Sheard and Ibarra each recorded two hits, while Garcia and Tsue both contributed RBIs in key moments.
